today, my HOD told me that i might not get to come back to my school next year - i'm not a "tenured" teacher, and so my position is not permanent. what happens is there will be a budget cut in the district and the school system is affected. schools will be closed down, and staff, cut (my school WONT close down but..) i'm very vulnerable because firstly, i'm considered a "new hire". secondly, since other schools are going to be closed, there will be "tenured" teachers there who will be "floating" in the system. according to the (teacher) union laws, they are to "have a job" until the day they die (or retire, whichever comes first =p) well, yes unless they screw up big time. so my position will be "open" to the entire system, since i'm not "locked in" yet. i dont think i will get fired tomorrow, but in order to "secure" my position, i'll need to work hard and prove to my school, HOD & principal that i'm a "good teacher" and that they should "re-hire" me next year. sounds pretty scary huh? i was mildly (?) affected by this "disturbing" news but decided i still have a few months to go to "prove" my worth. pls pray for God's will to be done and that i will be at peace with whatever He has in mind.
