Dinner Interviews

it's been the latest craze here. of my life actually. haha. no, not interview over dinner. i'm talking about good food dinner (read: free) and couple of interviews so far. so i had a 45mins phone interview with this school called shady hill school. the math dept head called me at 3:15-ish and asked if he could have an interview session over the phone with me at 5pm. he also asked if he managed to get out of his meeting earlier, would it be convenient to call me say 4:45pm (which i think he was aiming for =p). obviously i said yes - unlike the previous time when the guy called and i said i was topping up petrol (i totally forgot there was a phone interview and happily went to the asian supermarket to buy stuff) and asked for him to call back. *rolls eyes right?*

it was a good one. i could tell he liked me. he said that they will call me in when they go through all the candidates and short-list a couple - and he called me last night. i happened to be out for dinner (will elaborate in a bit) and i didn't bring my hp. oops. haha. he left me a voicemail and asked me to call him back when i could confirm if i could go and visit the sch next tue. thing is, the visit would include meeting up the teachers on the math team, observations at 2 math classes and then (this is the tricky part), i will have to teach one 40min class! whoosh! i will then have lunch with the headmaster.. he mentioned that it means i'll be there until about 1:30-ish so i wont be able to work at my sch! (instruction stops at 2:15-ish so no point travelling all the way down - wont make any sense) but i'm worried. coz i will be officially substituting for my mentor teacher (she's still around, can you believe it?!) and i have to 1. leave sch early next monday for CRC and 2. have coverage for the CRC meeting on thu morning. i'm really like afraid to ask now coz karen told me mrs russo (my principal) came up yesterday and 'barked' at her, saying there should not be any teachers away (on leave basically) all the way to the end of the sch year. karen told her that my parents will be in town, that's why i wont be working that week. she wasnt too pleased ("she was not a happy camper" quoting karen's exact words). sigh. i duno. VP said she's gonna make sure i'll get paid (she's gonna talk to P) and she's also quite positive about making sure i get paid for the time karen is away until the end of my practicum (coz i'm only supposed to be teaching 1 class according to the terms of my internship and if my mentor teacher is not around, i can technically request for a sub) so pls pray, pray for me!

the other interview on wed? it went well too. think the principal and the head of *sth* were very nice. i guess it's true interviewers usually are nice to everyone they interview. =p they did say that if i'm actively searching for jobs and another sch calls to ask for my decision (else they let me go), that i should call them back to check on my status. to me, that sounds like a very positive note. =) thank God. now i'm praying that God will lead the way as to where He'll want me to go. 4th grade with math & writing (i couldnt answer what books 6th graders should not miss =( sobz) or 6th + possible 7th or 8th grade math. both it seems are good schs, with a lot of 'wow's & 'it's a great sch' for milton academy.

ok, dinners. mon @legal's. yesterday (wed) @royal east (chinese food) for SIF (sgp intn'l foundation). they were trying to pull together singaporeans who are overseas - recruited a honorary student councillor for the region. quite nice. lots of leftover food (read: free da bao!) which i had for lunch & dinner today. =p sounds like overkill for chinese-food? maybe. =p cant wait for mum & dad to cook when they're here. 1 more month!!
