ok, trying to phrase my title well. =p not sure if i'm doing myself justice. oops.

anyhows, keng's internship co had this intern social event - community service. they were gonna join Habitat for Humanity to build houses. build houses??!? you gotta be kidding sarah.. you build A house?? talk about interesting past times.. okok, i get the point. yes, we were helping.. not exactly to build a house (ah, now you're talking..) since all of us were inexperienced. we were assigned to destroy! haha! yes.. you got that right. we had to cut old electrical wires, un-nail window frames (& literally pull them out!) and pound on old pipes & air shafts to remove them (actually, the professional did all the pounding for the pipes and we did the removing.. =p) of coz there's also the 'debris' removal.. a truck came and we had to fill it up with all the broken wood & stuff. all in all pretty hard work. we did have a lunch break (abt 30-45min i think?) and well, the day didnt end w/o any accident coz one of keng's friend stepped on a rusty nail and it pierced through his shoe and injured him. poor him. we were scrambling trying to find the phone # of MIT medical (since he was a student at MIT) and had his records checked. both the HR girls who came along (one of them was pregnant!) just sat watching the entire time (duh).. one sent him to the hospital on our way back. oh well.. it was fun nonetheless. my contribution back to humanity. =)

the church we're attending for the summer is a beautiful church. coloured glass planes. there's this nice bell tower outside and christian once said he wants to get helicopters to take it home - must be after watching transformers or sth. =p haha. anyways.. the sermon was great! spoke to me. so anyway.. nowadays, the radio ads industry has been looking for ways to get across to their listeners w/o having them switch the station (research shows pple tend to switch when they hear the first commercial come on..) so they came up with an idea. cut the ad really short. one sec (one mississippi) ads are called blink ads and five advent? (ok, i need to confirm this with love first) - nvm the names. they were ways to still get the msg across in the shortest time possible. smart hor? but guess what? Jesus also gave us the most important 2 msgs in blinks and advents:

(in one breath) "Love the Lord God your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind."

(in another breath) "Love your neighbour as yourself."

well, the story was abt the lawyer who was testing Jesus. Luke 10:25-37. "who is my neighbour?" indeed. trying to justify himself. pastor said we're like this lawyer.. (altho no one in his right mind would want to identify with the lawyer) we have the knowledge. right in our heads. we know who our neighbours are.. but the simple msg "go and do likewise" or more importantly, the "do" part seems like hard to penetrate our brains - another blink ad. =p will we "do" it today...?
