Yummy Ice!

ok, first off - we were part of a history making event. I-495 (that's interstate-495, or aka expressway) turned to a 'parking lot' of sorts. slow moving traffic to wrentham got us stuck in the jam for about 3hours! the usual journey took 50mins or so, depending on how fast but yep, coz it was black friday (term coined when merchants in the reds - or losing money - would go into the blacks - or earning profits - the day after thanksgiving) and everyone was rushing for the 'great' sale, we took about 3.5hours to finally arrive there. the highway was just full of vehicles back to back probably for a good 2hours! sheesh. first time in history that so many stores (factory outlets to be more precise) were going to open at 12mn and hence, the 'rush'. people out to get the best bargains of the year. we aimed to reach there about 12-ish and leave about 2am but well, arriving at 2:45am, we decided to make our trip's worth by staying until 6am - the sky was turning bright as we left and poor christian wasnt feeling too well coz he had a long day the day before (he slept in the car for a good 1.5-2hours while we shopped - i'm not too sure if his friend stayed with him or shopped).

got home about 7am (see? <1hour's journey) and ruijie had asked over msn if we were still going to best buy (this electronic store - like best denki) coz he was going to buy a hdtv i.e. he needed transport or our car. called him. turns out, he had been there before 5am and had queued to get in but when the store opened at 5, there was simply a mad rush in. *shrugs shoulders* we volunteered to drive him there and yep, he happily has a hdtv lcd mounted on his wall so he can watch dvd while on his tredmill.

right. (the rest of the day just went by for us catching up on sleep and work)

it was work, work and more work until evening yesterday. i had actually planned to leave home abt 3pm to start our journey to Rhode Island to visit grammy.. but with so much work, we didnt leave until 4-ish. decided to go to this sport store to buy me a pair of ice skates and woola, got lost. =( the maps werent very helpful coz they were all words and we didnt know which roads were before the junctions we were supposed to turn. we gave up halfway and hit on I-95 which we knew would bring us down south. but as soon as that happened, i saw the road we would come out from (if we made it to the sports store) coming up in the next exit so off we went, adventuring and we finally found the store(of coz we went in the wrong directions at first until we decided to stop and check with the locals =p)! yay! so got me ice skates and headed back on the highway. reached grammy's house abt half 7.. and waited patiently for dinner. laura had grown a little taller but was still as pretty as before. it did take some time for her to warm up with us but it was ok. dinner went by fine and we just had a good time of talking and catching up. grampy fixed our car plate (which was slanted one side after one screw fell off - we duno how that happened) so all was good. =)

went ice skating today after lunch after church (trying to fit all sentences in one =p) @ johnson ring. so nice to have my own pair of skates. except that it's taking longer than i expected to really pick up the skill.. i'm getting there. =p then it was a delicious home-cooked (we bought the ready-to-bake) ribs with fries and rice. mm mm. yummy. finger-licking good. heh.
