Farm & Shakespeare (Sat)

you're probably wondering what the link is between farm & shakespeare.. well, none. unless you count me. =p haha. nah, i titled this based on what i did today. yep, went to this farm about an hour drive north of boston. well, it's more west than north actually. hah. so i called didi's sunday school teacher, chung han, yesterday evening to say hi, ask how he was doing (because he had told me thru email, that he was going for the Contact Singapore dinner on tues but i didnt see him..) and yeah, ask if he and his family had any plans for today. =p thick-skin abit.. else very bored sitting at home look at the walls (& eating - noticed that when i have nothing to do, i snack.. shucks. coz i think i put on 1 kg!! *gasps!!*) so it was that they planned to drive to this farm to pick blueberries (& peach but the day limit was up when we arrived). well, it wasnt too new to me because i picked wild blueberries off the bushes while walking (yes, you read correctly: while walking) in camp last year. but i guess the kids were excited. haha. i would be too if i were 3 or 5 years old. =p =p

anyhows, so we spent probably a good 45min picking berries. we had a hard time trying to pick big ones (we saw other pple's basket and they all looked huge!! dunno why.. ??) and lorraine (the 5 year old girl) was hard @ work.. persevering, searching and filling her little basket faithfully. hah. we got a good 6 lb. (divide that by 2.2 to get in kg, i think =p) with 3 adults and 2 kids. pretty good "harvest"? we should've gotten one more lb. coz it would cost us 50cent/lb. cheaper.. but the kids were tired, the tracter was waiting (need to wait 15min for the next ride) so we left. i bought 5 nectarines (that's called prunes back home i think) which i realised, they belonged to the family of peaches. haha.. had lunch there, before the kids went to the playground and petting 'zoo' (ok, maybe more like petting 'farm'). guess i was a little wee old for that so just watched them. moved around with them, carried them but didnt have animal feed in my hands to feed the (mostly billy) goats. swang justin (3 year old boy) on the child swing. he seemed to enjoy it a lot. gave me quite some hmm, not really headache, but well, hard to concentrate on what he was saying (he told me about some nightmare he had last night) - hard to catch kids' talk, if you know what i mean, plus i was watching him swing back and forth so.. old pple like me didnt have such a good time coz quite some headache to watch a 'pendulum swing back and forth'. he was telling me about how his dad had/was going to have a hair cut.. about how guys should have short hair and in the next swing was this older (prob about lorraine's age, i'm guessing) who said that her dad had long hair. had a pony tail. and strangely enough, it was her mum who had short hair. i didnt really know what to say coz i personally dun like guys with long hair. i think (maybe i'm just traditional. hah!) that guys with short hair look better.. but i wasnt gonna challenge her in any way. i mean, it's her dad we're talking about. prob her rold model or sth..

yeah, so chiew yan (chung han's wife) bought ice cream. oh btw, *embarrassed* they treated me to lunch too. grilled cheese with ham in wheatbread, toasted. yum! ice cream was this nice yummy *sugar-free* caramel pecan - dont ask me how it's labelled "sugar-free" when there's caramel. haha. the kids had choc (mm, my fav flavour!!) and strawberry shared between them and their parents. i gave part of mine to chung han too, so he could try the flavour. =) left after. the kids had to take their afternoon naps. on the way back, justin started to cry really bad. i think he had some nightmares again. poor him. i cant imagine having such an active mind (chung han used that term) at such a young age! maybe i was just born "stupid"? haha. so in the nightmare he described to me, he was being held by some unknown person and tickled. he couldnt see his mum or dad or jiejie (he calls lorraine that. my bro does too *smiles*) and he was scared. SCARY! i asked casually if there was anyth that might have led to such thought but both chung han and his wife seemed indifferent to it - maybe it happened to justin couple of times before so.. oh well, shall keep that little guy in prayers! =)

right. that explains 'farm'. now shakespeare: i called Shirleen and Kaishi (i met these Singaporean girls @ Contact Singapore) to ask if they were interested to watch "Free Shakespears at the Boston Common". The taming of the Shrew. only managed to get Shirleen. but glad she was interested. hee. if not, i wouldnt have gone. twas ok. free. just bring ur own towels/beach mat/beach chair with snacks and a jacket (it was freezing when the wind blew!!) and you were set to go. she brought me to her house carnival before that and we picked up free pizzas, water and a small packet of popcorns (yes, to eat while watching the play =p such greedy folks right?). went to her place to pick up her jacket and headed to filene's basement (this discount store - i'll explain some other day, if i ever remember). i bought a nike dri-fit long sleeve for half price. it's for running - yes, i plan to run with shirleen maybe tmr or some time this week along the charles river. gasps right? sarah running..? =p well, it's tax-free day today and tmr - i might pick up a harvard sweatshirt (i've been eyeing for the longest time ever) coz dont have to pay tax! yay! haha. too bad i didnt know beforehand, else can make a trip down to wrentham (it's a place with hundreds of factory outlet shops =p) with some singaporeans or sth.. keng and i do plan to head down later in the month or maybe early next month when serene's back. k, back to the play. it's by shakespears basically. not bad if u didnt count not understanding all the english (& local jokes). haha. too bad zeke didnt make it - he was gonna come after dinner with absk/bbc (after IMs - duno what that stands for but basically, that's their church-wide volleyball tournament) but by half-time, he was still in the middle of dinner so he passed on it. poor him.

going to park street church tomorrow. visited highrock last week coz lisa (my classmate) wanted to do so. her friend had recommended her. prob gonna call karen, this singaporean i met while out with serene one day, to ask if i could join her & her cell for lunch or sth. mum said to make sure i found a place so i can bring keng along. chung han also plans to attend the 11am service so heh, maybe can meet and play with the children again. the last time i visited i went for the 4pm service because it was the comtemporary one. i'll try traditional tmr - give it another chance. i found that i can 'tolerate better' as i grew older - previously i really couldnt take hymns. =p i still dont do very well but maybe because of wesley's combined services couple of times a year, i'm now more accustomed to it. =)
