another tiring week

it was a short week. mon was a public hol so there was no sch. slept late (2-3am) every night over that long weekend - keng and some friends were busy coding at our place - and when it came to tue, i was tired. tue was also president obama's inauguration. my sch switched period 4 and 5 around so everyone go for lunch earlier and would then be able to tune in to tv to watch his speech and ceremony at 12noon. i had planned (& announced it the week before) to give my students a test. so first thing after i get to class, my vp came in and asked if i was going to give a test. i said yes. she looked eh, stunned. (noticeably uncomfortable) she said she would give me some advice. i smiled and said i have period 4 off (which means no test is given during that time slot) so my kids are able to watch the inauguration if their study/music teachers had plans to. she was like, yeah.. good.. coz some parents were complaining that they are "disgusted" that their child's teacher was going to make them miss the president's inauguration and all they will ever remb some 10 years down the road is they were taking a test when this historical moment happened. (in my heart: okays..) she smiled, happy that i had thought abt it, and left. 5 minutes later, my HOD came in and said the same thing. geeh.. if it was so important, they might as well have made it compulsory for all teachers to stop what they were doing, watch the ceremony and not teach during that particular time. then there won't be a conflict of interest. i know it's the country's first black president, but life still has to go on! oh well. hmpf.

on the side: i enjoyed watching the ceremony during my free period, and also the benediction given by the rev. =p he was quite funny abt the ending. left a good impression.

wed and thu flew by. had mtg in church wed aft and parent-teacher night on thu. we had a field trip planned for fri - see i told u it was a short week, or was it? the weather was great on fri and we went to the museum of science - fun! there wasn't a lot of time tho. and the parent who was with me did a pretty bad job looking out for the kids we assigned her. i was basically chasing 20 kids (when we each are supposed to keep an eye on 10).

marking, marking, marking. i still have 1.5 classes more to go. it's almost the end of sun. plus it's CNY eve today and we're going to have reunion dinner with 25 other folks. tiring. k, gtg. pls pray for strength for me!!
