There & back again

blessed new year everyone!!

time flew by so quickly. i'm back in US. after a 11-day holidays in Singapore. arrived safe and sound, but cold. haha! feeling somewhat sleepy now (i woke up at 7am this morning) but trying to hold on until tonight and not nap, just in case i cant get to sleep. God had a nice plan for me to stay awake just now...

went out with christian to buy ice skates. he was thinking of getting his own pair. since we were there and modell's was having a 20% discount on all inline-skates, i decided to get a pair of roller blades. duno if i'm spending too much (oops) but well, it's another source of exercise (read: excuse) when love's back. went to thailand cafe after. gave half my rice to christian, who was hungry. he was complaining (ok, maybe it was just saying) that he put on weight over the LA trip. haha! lots of good asian food. well, decided i would be helpful, instead of saving half the portion of rice for dinner later, i gave it to him. =p

well, we finished in good time. but when i tried to start the car, i couldnt! sigh. called yogi and he came to the rescue. haha! he just reached home and was abt to park his car. so yep, since we were like 3 mins' drive away from home, he drove over to see if he could jump-start the car. abt 3-4 weeks ago, his car batt kinda "died" from leaving the headlights on while waiting for a parking lot (huh?). he and his friend pushed the car into the lot and headed off to eat (& call me but we were having bible study). somehow, mysteriously, the car managed to start again after they finished dinner - we were quite ready to drive out to "save" them (even tho none of us had the cables) when bible study ended. anyway, he "learnt" his lesson, and bought the cables, which he tried on my car. didnt work. after a few tries. so called AAA loh. they told me that they would send a dispatch to test my batt, jump-start and change my battery if necessary. would cost $99-110 for the new batt and installation. funny thing was i said my car's batt's flat. and the guy was like ?? i didnt realise that he didnt get it immediately (coz they say tyre's flat, not battery) until he told me that the english and canadians would be the only ones who say it the way i did. haha! i told him that i grew up with the british edu system (didnt wanna confuse him further) and also that i didnt have enough cash. he was pretty nice to check with the guy. found out the company would accept visa/mastercard.

waited around for quite abit. "within 90mins" was the instructions so we waited in yogi's car. too cold to stand outside otherwise. quite fun chatting.. and yes, keeping awake. the guy finally came and checked the batt. first off he said the batt tested bad. after that, we tried jump-start and wah lah, it worked! have no idea why yogi's didnt. the guy said the batt's changed in '02 and they usually last at least 6-7 years so dont need to change. he helped clean the oxidised dirt around the terminals and left. didnt even check my card! haha. thank God i didnt need to spend any extra money. =) was told to keep the engine on for 20mins.. so we drove home, and parked. cleaned my windscreen while waiting. not sure if it was exactly 20min but praying that all will be alright. apparently the batt can die under cold too! sheesh!
