it feels good to be home! =) the contrast between a busy city (boston) and a HUGE BUSY cosmopolitian city (new york) is HUGE. haha. don't think i'd like to live there. at least not in the urban areas. it's messy and there's just lots of vehicle exhaust (stinky and smoky). not a very nice scene to walk in if you ask me. the people there are also more unfriendly - they tend to shove and push their way around. it goes the same for traffic - the cars just turn in front of you! (in boston, pedestrians have right of way no matter what - which can be bad too when you're a driver!) speaking of driving, i went to take the theory test last friday and passed it! yay! now to see if i can get this phd guy (ji-jon) to sponsor me (i.e. to sit in the back seat of the car - i duno why this rule bt apparently you need a sponsor in the car besides the traffic police tester. hmmpf) sometime within these few weeks (probably choose another friday since i have free days on fridays) before it gets too cold. haha.
we spent quite a lot. USD47.50 per night for a hotel with NOTHING. haha. no facilities. no amenities. sucks big time. only thing there was? location. it was right smack in the middle of town. times square. which made life easy for us to go around town. just a stone's throw away from many things - including the broadway theatres and heh, ticket booth. we caught this musical Rent for USD53 per person. we got it for 50% discount - can you imagine it w/o discount?? *gasps* mezzanine 4th row. a little to the side though. =( yeah, oh and the bus/subway rides are USD2 per ride. expensive! so in that sense, it's a trade-off to stay in town where all the busttling was and not having the need to travel to and fro our lodging.. but.. but.. sadly, there was only 2 huge king beds (serene and i shared one while keng slept with kevin) with ample space to roll though, a hole in the wall under the aircon (craps, duno how it got there) and a leaky tap (sianz coz the trickling was quite irritating!) no daily fresh towels, no beds made. haiz. was also quite noisy coz we're in the middle of town. haha. okok, shall not complain so much. anyways, keng's attitute: we're on holidays, let's just spend and enjoy! me: argh, i'm spending so much money. all that i've earned is down the drain! haha..
okies, back to reality.. readings and work to do (i did some while traveling: surprised? =p)
