Free Dinners

heh, been going to tech talks/company talks of late. for dinner. well, being at the top universities in the world, you neednt go out to look for jobs; jobs come in to look for you. right at your doorstep. ok, not quite. but close enough i guess. =) i loved the fruits you get at career fairs - i have my fair share of grapes (my fav!), strawberries, watermelon (sometimes), pineapple and honey dew. =) sweet, right? we had chinese food last night, at a talk by morgan stanley. sometimes i think to myself, was do i earn out of being a teacher? (no prizes for correct guess) but yeah, you'll have to agree with me that it's not a high paying job. (read: sigh.) but well, nonetheless satisfying, if you don't die of anger with the children. haha.

going for a microsoft talk later tonight. i.e. free dinner. apparently it's only pizzas. =( but well, maybe can go for the raffle (it's a lucky draw) - xbox 360, some other nice stuff to be won. heading back to the library in awhile to cover an extra shift for this guy. 2 hours. earn extra cash. =) i've been watching my spendings but definitely not as tight as i had over the summer (maybe because love's back too and he pays a large proportion of our eat-outs/groceries. opps). i'm so trying to find other ways to earn money. the pay is good here. cant expect that from sgp. anytime. like even after tax, i think i earn a good sgd20 for each hour i clock at the library. that aside, i'm quite sad that this note-taking job for one of my classes only allow work-study (it's a federal fund payment so international students are not eligible) - which makes me frustrated sometimes.. you being in a foreign land and being restricted to working only on-campus (i can only apply to work off-campus after 9months of being here and it must be relevant to what i am studying. bleah).
