vball anyone??

think about it. volleyball until 1am.. first time you've heard of that? me too. hahha.. yep, after bible study class yesterday night, the church went to this indoor basketball gym (those high sch bball courts you see on TV) & played vball. (read: what were they thinking? it was already close to 10pm!) anywayz, we started with a small group of say 8 pple? stood around in a circle & 'punched' the ball to each other.. well, kinda warm up if you wana call it. =p it upgraded to 'monkey' as pple came. if you lose the ball; hit the ball in the wrong directions; missed the ball -- basically, other than hit the ball to another person, you lose & you stay in the centre of the circle as 'monkey' until you are redeemed either 1. you catch the ball someone didnt hit well or 2.enough pple are in the centre & yep, the game starts all over again with a single person (monkey) in the centre..

then when many more pple came (there were 5 teams of about at least 10-12 persons -- that's alot ok?), we started a vball tournament. i not sure if it was league style (i've absolutely no idea whatsoever) but heys.. i played! that's the main thing i was trying to highlight. hahha.. ask my small grp, they'll tell you i'm not a vball player. ask my close friends.. they'll tell you i'm afraid of balls.. so what made me hit the ball even though my arms were aching from sun's friendly game (this church's culture's into vball)? oh btw, did i mention that pastor & his family plays along with everybody as well?? =)

reason? everyone's pretty supportive. they're kinda training for a vball competition (branches on the west coast of US meet each year in a tournament of vball) & man, they are serious about it! hahha. i was put in a team together with seng (pastor kinda missed me out but hmm, yeah for yesterday night.. i wont be around after mon anywayz..) & the 'team leader' aka coach, was like "ok guys, i need you to start from the very basics (thinks: ah, at least someone's making sense) we'll train hard. we may not win now but at the end of summer, we'll be first" (i was like "erhmz..crazy! good luck man..") hahah. bad me eh? oh no.. i'm leaving like mon (in 2 days' time) & i'm gonna miss these pple!!! hhhaha.. given a chance, i'll probably visit Seattle en-route back to Singapore. all the friends i've made in these 3 weeks!! =)

today started off with a visit to blockbuster (the place to rent dvds) then it was a trip to a park near our place for some sgporean/malaysian gathering. they were mainly couples (read: all married with kids. either one or two) & heys.. the 3 of us were like at least a decade (except one gal who's 2 years my senior & maybe her husband) or two younger than them! hahha. but it was cool. to listen to them as we ask how life in US is like (after all, they've settled down; started a family) and advice on what could be done to earn the 'green card' (or take the step to stay in US). the kids were cute but as usual, they kept away from us. shy. maybe it's a characteristic of asian children.. but then again.. maybe we just didnt try hard enough to 'go down to their level'. there was a petting zoo. horses, sheeps (that bleahed!!), chickens, roosters, pigs.. hahha.. animal farm. =p

i spoke to this mum who shared the reason why she came to US was that her son had leukaemia & back then, Singapore did not have the expertise to treat/do bone marrow transplant. told her i lost a friend to the disease recently & she shared how he managed to survive a bone marrow transplant from his younger sister. it was amazing. the testimony of how God provided. way cool. =) then it was off to husky stadium for UW's senior graduation ceremony. commencement or convocation (whichever term you prefer =p). it was raining! there were about 10 thousand students in the field (it's a baseball stadium -- dun ask me can fit how many pple ok? take it from me that it's huge. believe me.. =p) so we stood around in the rain until all the grads were contacted (the church's senior year batch). took lots of photos (yes, in the rain).

sent some of the gals back then topped up petrol before heading home to rest awhle before going over to a friend's house to celebrate his birthday. jiwon. the child prodigy i mentioned few days back? yep, it was his 20th bday.. he invited Microsoft interns & i think some of his neighbours or sth. well, hence me made a couple more new friends. this china guy (he's not bad looking =p) who grew up in canada. it was his 4th time doing an internship. man, i feel old seeing & listening to all of the dudes speaking about their college and high sch years which they excelled like nothing! 'A's are just so common, they dont bother to talk about them. sigh. hahaha.. not my league anytime. well, had pizza, cookies, cake, drinks & watched the movie 'team america'. pretty crude but it was rather funny.
