i participated in a PD (professional development) workshop today on self-care. it was light, and made everyone who attended feel at ease. we could discuss freely (since when cannot hor?) and share the woes and challenges we face daily. i was late coz i met with a parent & student (actually, parent is my colleague) and spent time gg over the test with her. t'was ok, coz i didnt really have that much to share. learning a lot abt the colleagues around me and as i'm typing this, the Lord is reminding me that i should keep them in my prayers!
one thing that perked my interest was how important the 'spiritual' aspect plays out in our lives. we were asked to fill in things we do/strategies on how we can self-care and 'spiritual' was one of the 4 categories. it seemed "praying" and "singing" were a large part of how ppl coped with stress. anyhows, there was also a part where we had a yoga instructor conduct some yoga. i was fully aware that it might not be good, hearing all the things pple had said about the meditation/posture. decided hey, maybe it's time to check it out myself. turned out ok. i didnt follow every single action/posture/instruction. part of which was coz i was wearing a dress and it wasn't as comfy to move about, and the other part was just be cognizant of what might possibly be "religiously uncomfortable"? (not sure if my terms are making sense.) it was a lot of taking deep breathes, stretching and relaxing muscles, and just not focusing on "bad" stuff? for me, i took time to reflect on the day and chat with God, so yeah, it wasn't as bad as i thought it might be. =p
pray for me as i take on to discipline myself to
1. go to bed earl(ier), like before 11pm.
2. exercise, like at least consistently once a week (for now).
