phew! a long, long day. i would say i'm pretty tired! =p it wasnt really because i slept only 7+ hours last night.. (haha! finally get to sleep so much!) it was really a long day. (hmm, i'm repeating myself. a sign of old age?)
anyhows, the day started with us getting out of bed lazily - as usual. =p then it was a 'mad rush' to leave on time. haha. to church. well, i met this girl from Singapore yesterday. she was relocated to US for 2 years and her company had given her this cultural training thingy.. they hired me to be a 'consultant' because i came from Singapore and have been living in US so i could bring to the table perspectives from both countries and help answer any questions she may have wrt her new environment. tho yes, i've only been here for half a year! haha. i guess it was God's way of meeting her need to find a new friend. someone whom she could relate to, from Singapore.. =p picked kae shin up at the T and then back to SH to meet christian uncle's friend & his family. they were going to church with us. obviously our car wouldnt fit them (hah!) but heys, they rented a car! i think it was a new mini-cooper. =p
went to royal east for lunch after. that uncle treated us to nice yummy chinese food. his family hadnt eaten chinese food for a long while so they were all quite happy. =p they had 2 kids, 14 & 17. took some time for them to warm up but yeah, towards the end of the meal, the boy (the older one) was already sharing about his thoughts and experience. pretty impressive considering he just finished 'O' levels. haha. he's thinking of coming to US for college. good for him! well, they were a really nice family. apparently, keng googled the uncle's name and wala.. he's some high-level CEO of some company, ambassador of some organisation.. *eyes widen* he & his wife misses Singapore quite a lot - they stayed there for 7 years. and guess what's the top reason for missing Singapore? the public libraries. haha. we were pretty amused.. but yeah, so it's hard to get to libraries in KL, and even so, the collection isn't great.. the books aren't in good conditions. there are private libraries (wah) but one would need to pay a good amt to be a member.. even then, she mentioned that there were many restrictions imposed. oh well.. we learn sth new everyday. haha. the other thing was that she was complaining that in Singapore, there's so much regulations from the government over food safety, etc. all vegetables going into Singapore is screened and if there's pesticides (or too high an amt, over the safety limits), the veg is rejected and not allowed into Singapore. so what happens to the truck load? it's sent back into M'sia and sold very cheaply. poor malaysians. =( singaporeans still unhappy with the govt? a thought for the day.. (not saying anything in case i get sued!)
then it was off to ice-skating. yours truly finally picked it up and can skate forward liaoz! yesterday. keng said i passed beginner stage 1 liaoz! haha. well, i'm not exactly great at it but it's much better. of coz i've my love to thank for being ever so patient with my slow-learning. =p i ventured to ice-skate backwards today - a whole 2 hour of non-stop practice. the sole of my feet hurt but i guess i'll just need to persevere!
the week was awesomely tiring. how can it not be awesome with God? =) keng had one deadline after another and we were up late most nights. i think he slept abt 4-5hours each night and we're so thankful that he's still in good health. truly blessed. =) i helped him do research and come up with points i thought would be useful for his projects. really braincell consuming. hah!
alrighty, 3 more hours tomorrow and i'm done with school this year! thank God for being so faithful and seeing me thru times when i feel like throwing in the towel! thank you akuou for all your encouragements and prayers.. as well as all my really, really wonderful friends. mei especially! =) keng and i will be heading to florida this week - we'll be driving down. it's kinda crazy.. but well, we're gonna give it a shot and we definitely need prayers! for journey mercy. stopping washington dc and wherever God leads. haha.
